Waking Up At Calvary

This morning I awoke with this song in my heart. I am so thankful that I met my Jesus at Calvary. He not only has changed my life there, he in fact has given me new life there. If you do not know my Jesus, come to Calvary.

At Calvary – Randy Overstreet

Filled With Joy

You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

PSALM 16 : 11

As I begin this day thinking of the cares and concerns around me — loved ones battling terminal cancer, loved ones undergoing extensive oncological testing, younger loves battling a ‘flesh eating bacterial infection and diabetes, children who are facing one live challenge after another, and on and on… to say nothing about my on health concerns and fears of being diagnosed with an auto immune disease and the delays of waiting weeks for an appointment with a Rheumatologist.

But through it all I KNOW God is in control. He has a plan. I am a small part of that plan. I KNOW His Grace, His Love is an unconditional, unwavering love that covers be in a blanket of peace and joy in His Presence as I begin this day.

May you feel the love of my Jesus today. May we walk together with Him rejoicing in the gift of this day and the blessings that it holds.

Truth and Lies — Endurance vs Speed

A lie has speed, but truth has endurance.

Thought to be by Edgar J. Mohn

Tell a lie and it spreads like wildfire to all who will hear. The more slanderous or ugly the lie the faster it seems to be fueled, growing or changing at each repeat along its path of destruction. Many are quick to hear it and accept lies as fact basing life decisions or their beliefs on unsubstantiated hearsay. Lies come and go like a tornado creating havoc and leaving a mess behind, destroying anything or any one in its path. Relationships based on lies are filled with distrust, confusion, destruction, and heartache turning hopes into shattered dreams.

TRUTH will always endure to the end. Truth is unchanging, consistent, and will stand on its own. Truth frees us from the burden of trying to recall who we told what. Deep in our souls we know Truth when we hear it. Truth is factual and stands on its own proven merit. Truth is the foundation of good character and ethical conduct. Combined with Love, Truth forms a super glue bond in any trust-worthy relationship giving hope and endurance for a lifetime..

Jesus, the greatest and most important truth of all times, has endured for over 2000 years. The story of Jesus is the same as when the disciples walked with Him. The facts have not changed. He has not changed. He was. He is. He will be.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6

Have a blessed day walking with Him who gave us the only truth that genuinely counts – the eternal Truth – JESUS! May He be your standard for truth as you travel through life.

Peace Be With You

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

JOHN 20 : 19

As you bask in the Glory of The Resurrected Lord may His Peace Be with You. He has a plan for you and for each moment of this day. Follow Him as He guides you through the moments of this day and wraps you in His Peace regardless of the challenges that may come your way.

The smell of coffee brewing in the early morning…

Bacon frying in the skillet…

A clean freshness in the air after a spring time shower…

The lingering fragrance of cologne as a loved one says good-bye for the day…

These sweet aromas, and many others, fill us with a peace and a sense of all is right in the in the world.

As we walk in love of God and love of others, we also leave a sweet aroma in their midst.

A simple smile…

A hug…

A visit or phone call instead of email…

A kind act…

A helping hand…

A listening ear…

A caring heart…

Will those you come in contact with, pause after you walk away and bask in the sweet aroma that you left behind?

Will you be a sweet-smelling aroma in the life of each person you encounter today?

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling aroma.                                                                                                                Ephesians 5:1-2 NKJV

Open Hearts, Open Homes

In 3 John, John’s primary topic is “hospitality” for our fellow Christians. Open hearts and open homes are to be a part of our Christian walk according to this disciple “who Jesus loved“.. Where have you placed hospitality in your daily walk?

Essential to hospitality is the open heart which results in an open home be it a small room, a modest apartment, or a mansion in which we can practice hospitality.

Making Plans

Making vacation or business trip plans, setting short-term and long-term goals, striving to “reach the mark”; terms like these are often a part of professional and personal daily life. Discussions are rampant with what our plans are for tomorrow. Yet without goals and dreams, we would wander aimlessly through both our personal and professional lives.

James, the half-brother of Jesus, however, tells us not to boast about tomorrow when he says:

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

(James 4:13-14) NKJV

I don’t think he is telling us not to make plans, In the context around the verse and in other scriptures, James and other biblical authors urge us to acknowledge God’s role in our planning, understanding that His plans for us are far greater, and supersede any plans that we may have for ourselves.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

(Jeremiah 29:11-13) NKJV

Where is God in your planning? Do you seek His Divine Wisdom as you make your plans? Are you plans aligned with His plans for your life?

Lord, as I make my plans and set my goals, may I first seek your wisdom and discernment. Your plans for me are greater than anything that I can imagine. Help me to always align my plans with your direction and plans for my life. In His Name Amen.

Are You Wearing Your Shield?

A shield is defined in the Merriam-Webster online dictionary as a broad piece of defensive armor carried on the arm that provides protection”. Did you put your shield on this morning?

The world we live in is our daily battleground. We are faced with ethical and moral choices at every turn. We are living in a world of extreme competition in business, in our personal lives, in our finances, in our appearance, in almost all that we say and do. We live in a world where the daily headlines are filled and overflowing with news of murders, assaults, slanderous attacks, grid-locked government unwilling to work together, financial decline, stranded at sea cruise ships, battles over gun control and so much more. It’s enough to make one want to cower in a cellar and hide from the chaotic movement that fills much of our world today.

God does not want us hiding from the chaos and challenges of our world. He tells us to live in the world but not be of the world. So how do we do that? How do we protect ourselves from the evilness that seems to be abundant? God has our answer. He tells us through the great Apostle Paul in Ephesians to put on the armor of God. One piece of that armor is the shield.

above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. – Ephesians 6:16

So you may ask, where do I get a “shield of faith”? Faith in what or who?

The words of King David in the beautiful book of Psalms and the wise words of King Solomon in the book of Proverbs gives us our answer.

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Proverbs 30:5 KJV

As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the Lord is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

Psalms 18:30 NKJV

As children of God through the precious blood of His Son, Jesus Christ, we can enter this world ruled by Satan without fear. We can trust our God for the perfect answer in any situation. We can trust that He is protecting us in all circumstances. He is our shield and He gives us peace in the chaos of the world.

In the midst of movement and chaos, keep stillness inside you.

Donald Laird

I know Christ dwells within me all the time, guiding me and inspiring me whenever I do or say anything. A light, of which I caught no glimmer before, comes to me at the very moment when it is needed.
