Greatest or Least – Which will you be?

I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.

So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Matthew 5:18-19 NLT

The Inheritance

Jesus replied, “I assure you that when the world is made new and the Son of Man sits upon his glorious throne, you who have been my followers will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life.

But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.

Matthew 19:28-30 NLT

Children Through The Eyes of Jesus

About that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?” Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. “And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me. But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.

Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father.

If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost?  And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away!

In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish.

Matthew 18:1-5;10-14 NLT

How upset Jesus must be as He looks down on this earth and watches the way we carry ourselves with arrogance and self-sufficiency much of the time instead of walking in humility — the humility of a child exhibits.

How His heart must break when He sees how children are ignored, hurt, abused or go hungry in our nation and in our world.

How His heart must bleed as he see our disregard for life — the life of an unborn child.

How do you approach Jesus each day? Is it with the humility, the acceptance and the unconditional love and praise of a child? To you come to Him with all your needs, wants and desires as your children come or have come to you?

How do you treat the children that cross your path each day — your own or those of others? Do you treat them with respect, with love?

Where do you stand on the issue of abortion? Do you value the life of that unborn child?

I wonder — when we stop, as people or as a nation, valuing the life of a child — born or unborn — I wonder, does Jesus no longer value us or our nation?

The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own  child, what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me? There is nothing  between.
