Psalm 37:3-9 (NKJV)
3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.
7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret—it only causes harm.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off;
But those who wait on the Lord,
They shall inherit the earth.

The book of Psalms is one of my favorite books of the Old Testament. It is power packed with emotion and with words of wisdom. King David’s ups and downs of life speak to my heart and I often find great understanding and affirmation in the God’s words in the Psalms.
Psalms 37 is no exception to the sharing of powerful messages that are meaningful today in my life and I reference these often —
- The words “Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your (my) heart.” speak – Be happy, the LORD is near; enjoy Him as you go through your days. Jesus cares about the desires of our hearts – He knows them, each and everyone. (Lord give our your desires in our hearts.) He not only knows our heart, our feelings, our will and our thoughts — He will respond and fulfill those desires when we serve Him for He loves those who serve Him with an unconditional love. PRAISE THE LORD!
- The words “Rest in the LORD… Do not fret…Cease from anger and forsake wrath…Do not fret–it only causes harm” speak — These verses simply and clearly speak “SNAP OUT OF IT” when I read them. When I am angry I turn here to this words and I can hear Jesus saying — “Marilyn, why are you wasting time being anger or fretting don’t you know that I have everything under control. SNAP OUT OF IT my child and wait on me to handle the issue for I know what needs to be done. Give me your concerns. Rest in me” PRAISE THE LORD!
- The words “But those who wait on the LORD” re-enforces the rest of the passage. God knows our every need. He will fulfill our every need — not necessarily our wants — in His Time and in His Way. PRAISE THE LORD!
May your day be filled with the blessing of our Lord Jesus Christ as you walk with Him today.
