What a GLORIOUS DAY!!!
The movie Courageous has and is changing my life. My husband and I went to see this movie when it was first released. Although, our children — his two from his first marriage and my two from my first marriage — are all grown, he was so moved by the role of the father presented in this wonderful movie. He, along with our pastor and other men in our church, decided that the Resolution Bible Study based on this movie would be a great study for the men in our congregation. Richard, agree to co-lead this study.
For the next 8 weeks, he and 18 other men, shared their stories, their emotions, their tears and bonded together as they learned more about the role that God desires them to have in their families.
Today, in our worship service, Richard gave his testimony and as I listened I realized that God has answered by prayers to be married to a Godly man who understands his role as the head of our household. I was so emotional as I realized just how much God has grown this man in the 8 years that I have known him — from a man who just ‘attended church’ to a man who now reads scripture daily, studies God’s Word, prays, and share scripture with our sons. I am honored to be his wife.
Later 15 of these 18 men stood in front of our congregation with their families. As Richard and I stood together, we were happy to have 3 sons, 1 daughter, 1 daughter-in-love, 1 son-in-love, 1 girlfriend, 4 grand-children, and 1 little girl we already have grown to love as a granddaughter. Just to have all of them in church with us today at one time was something of a miracle — we filled an entire pew! Wow! what a blessing!!
As the pastor read each commitment that made up the resolution the men would sign, tears filled Richard’s and my eyes. As Richard signed his resolution and I signed as witness it along with our pastor, we were filled with the higher accountability that we are now called to adhere to — For Me and My House WILL Serve the Lord. As the pastor followed this resolution service with the reading of 1 Corinthians 13, we were reminded of our wedding. I a sense — today we strengthened and renew our vows, only this time these vows included our children and grandchildren.
We may have failed in our previous marriages and we may not have been the right examples when raising our children but today our marriage is based on the Agape love of Jesus, we acknowledge Jesus as our Savior and want nothing more than for each one of our children, children-in-love and our grandchildren to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior and one day be in Heaven with us.
As together we knelt at the altar at the close of the service, we prayed for our family together and praised God for the work that He is already doing in each of their lives.
Thank you Jesus for your love, for the love of my husband Richard and for the work that you are doing in our family.
