The Ten Commandments Award

A very special blogger, Melody, at Donkey Whisper Farms gave me the Ten Commandments Award several weeks ago. I am just now getting to the point that I have time to take action on acknowledging her recognition.

The Ten Commandments are from GOD, and are the standards to which we are to hold ourselves. The 10 commands can easily be grouped into two groups — love for God and love for others. These commandments where given to Moses and the Children of Israel in the wilderness after their escape from slavery in Egypt.

Can you imagine how much better our world would be IF all people lived and followed these commandments?

Ten Commandments from the Bible

The Ten Commandments Exodus 20:3-17. :

1. You shall have no other gods before Me.

2. You shall not make unto thee any graven image.

3. You shall not take the name of the Lord God in vain.

4. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.

5. Honor your father and your mother.

6. You shall not murder.

7. You shall not commit adultery.

8. You shall not steal.

9. You shall not bear false witness.

10. You shall not covet.

RULES: The rules for this award are that you must answer the following ten questions and nominate ten blogs that you think deserve the award.

1. Describe yourself in seven words.

Daughter of a King, Christian, Encourager, Loving, Trustworthy, Generous, Good Hearted

2. What keeps you up at night?

Concern about family members who are struggling and work related concerns.

3. Whom would you like to be?

Mary Magdalene

4. What are you wearing now?

Jeans and an Independence Day shirt

5. What scares you?

That my son and other members of my family do not have a personal relationship with Jesus.

6. What are the best and worst things about blogging?

The best part of blogging is being able to share the gospel with so many through the internet and to be able to read other inspiring blogs that are encouraging my growth in many areas. And I have to add making new friends.

The worst thing about blogging – The spam and pingbacks!

7. What was the last website you looked at? http://www.donkeywhisperer.com – I love the site but went there to get the instructions on responding to this award.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

I would have neck and shoulder muscles that did not hurt. They have been tense for so many years that they are rarely relaxed. I’ve spent too many years at a keyboard I guess.

9. Slankets, yes or no? Slankets are called Snuggies here. No Snuggies. Sweats or a blanket.

10. Tell us something about the person who nominated you.

Melody at http://donkeywhispererfarm2010.wordpress.com is a survivor of a horrible semi truck motor vehicle accident that could have taken her life. She still struggles with pain as the result of her injuries yet she makes the most of each day. She has such a sweet spirit and a tremendous love for donkeys. She is delightful Christian and an inspiration to all.

Bonus Question:  What is your testimony for Jesus Christ?

The About page on my site contains my testimony — The link is https://faithfulnibbles.wordpress.com/about/

Come and See What God has Done: The Testimony of Brian and Anna Peterson

Our Life On The Border

This week Dawn and I saw Brian and Anna Peterson at Sierra View Presbyterian Church. You might remember that Anna’s life hung in the balance due to complications while giving birth. She went into a coma, and it was touch and go for her for a few weeks.

Their testimony is very encouraging. I think when our city, Colorado Springs is burning we need words of encouragement! God is doing some wonderful things!

Dawn and I had coffee with Brian and he shared more about all that the Lord did in saving Anna and caring for their family. He told us that he preached a sermon from Psalm 66 titled, “Come and See What God has Done.”

“Say to God, ‘How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing…

This is the Beginning, Not the End of the Legal Challenges to the HHS Mandate

Public Catholic

I have had the honor of working with the woman quoted in this article, Dorinda Bordlee, on pro life legislation in the past. She is a woman after my own heart. Her comments about today’s Supreme Court Ruling upholding the insurance mandate portion of the Affordable Health Care Act are, in my opinion, spot on. We have just begun to fight the HHS Mandate which forces churches, religious institutions and individuals to violate their long-held moral teachings.

This article contains links to the ruling itself and the BDF amicus brief which describes how the mandate imposes an “abortion premium.” I’m posting it here in response to the bishops’ request that we use this Fortnight for Freedom to study the mandate.

The Power of Prayer

http://bible.us/Jas5.13.NLT 13 Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises.14 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord.15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. 16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.17 Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years!18 Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.

“I am with you…”

In the last 3 days, I have worked 27 hours with less than 6 hrs sleep each night. As a 60 yr old this has certainly taken it’s toll. I came home early yesterday to rest..

This morning in my Jesus Calling devotional by Sarah Young, I read these Words :

REST IN ME A WHILE. You have journeyed up a steep, rugged path in recent days.”

These words grabbed my attention. I read on with excitement and anticipation. I knew God was speaking directly to me!

“Look neither behind you nor before you, focus your attention on Me, your constant Companion.”

“Refresh yourself in My company, breathing deep draughts of My Presence.  The highest level of trust is to enjoy Me moment by moment. I am with you, watching over you wherever you go.”

Praise God that He is watching over me as I head into another 10 hr day.

Psalms 143:8 NKJV

“Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For in You do I trust ; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You.”

Lord, thank you this morning for speaking to me through Sarah Young and through your Word. Thank you for the promise that you are always with me. Keep me focused on you as I go through this day, neither looking forward or backwards. Moment by moment may I focus and rest in You.

In Jesus Name
Amen

The Lord Rejoices with Singing

Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV

The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet  you  with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Thoughts –

The MAJESTIC GOD of the universe rejoices over me! Wow! How awesome is that? What have I done to deserve such love? In the universe, I am less than a grain of sand, yet God loves me. He has saved me. He loves me and He quiets me. I rejoice in His love and sing praises to Him.

Thank you Lord for this day. Help me to spend each second seeking to give you my all in return for your sacrificial love for me.

Challenge –

If you do not know The Lord, know that He loves you. Seek him and you will find Him. I pray for you today, that you too will feel God’s love and know that He rejoices over you when you come to him in faith in his son Jesus. Regardless of the path you have walked, He is waiting for you to come to him and to rejoice in singing over you.

Amen!
Praise God

Peace

Phillipians 4:7

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

My thoughts:

In my life, there is nothing greater than the peace of Jesus that I found through His sacrificial, loving, death on The Cross for my sins… so I can know God through his blood, so I can experience eternal life, and the gift of The Holy Spirit who is always there, dependable, standing by, protecting me, comforting me, guiding me …..OH WHAT PEACE WHEN I REMAIN FOCUSED ON MY LORD.

Do you know him? Is He your Savior? Have you found the ONLY source of peace? If not, want you acknowledge Him today – Jesus the Son of God, his death for you sins?
