Mrs. Baugh’s Bible — Treasure 4

More treasured memories to share from Mrs. Baugh’s well-worn and loved Bible.

Written across the face of an old fashion, yellowed blank 1950’s check are the following words from President Abe Lincoln

“I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive of how he could look up into heaven and say there is no God.”

Pinned with a straight pin to the check is the following newspaper clipping.

Q.  “What can one say to a college graduate who says, “The Bible was written by religious fanatics and was intended to rope in the ignorant masses who are governed wholly by their superstitions?”

A.  “I should simply say that that young man was suffering from a bad attack of intellectual measles. No need to argue with him. ‘Answer not a fool according to his folly.’ I sincerely hope the colleges do not turn out many of that kind.”

Personal Comment:

I think Mr. Cadman and Mrs. Baugh would both be disappointed and heartbroken to see how many atheists and/or agnostics are in our world today.

NOTE:  These were found tucked into the pages of Exodus 16 and 17.
